Vote now for the Joico Bridal Stylist of the Year

Savvy hair stylists from all over the country have been hard at work creating beautiful bridal looks with their own creativity and skill – and with the help of Joico hair products - to enter into this year's Joico Stylist of The Year competition, in association with New Zealand Weddings. 

The winning stylist will join the Joico team at two New Zealand Weddings Magazine Collection shows at New Zealand Fashion Week, which runs from the 22nd - 28th August 2016. They will also have a full page feature in the Summer issue of New Zealand Weddings (on sale January) as well as feature on newzealandweddings.co.nz.

Dom Whittaker, Jo & Dom Styling, Wellington

How Dom created these looks: Bride's look (left): Joico Body Luxe Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner. 1. Prep by spraying hair with Joico Smooth Cure Thermal Styling Protectant. 2: Barrel curl set and pin in, spray and leave to cool. 3: Back comb and shape a low bun using a light pomade to tame fly-aways and pin. Twist back sides, pin and spray with Joico Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Spray. Bridesmaid's look (right): Joico Body Luxe Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner. 1: Prep by spraying hair with Joico Smooth Cure Thermal Styling Protectant and . 2: ghd curl. 3. Section off top half, tie remaining hair into a pony. 4: Back comb top section for height and volume, drape and pin over pony, pin into place. 5: Hairspray and finishing pomade.

Leanne Grinder, Walter & Co Hairdressing, Thames

How Leanne got this look: 1. Apply Joico Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray and Joico K-PAK Restorative Styling Oil through the mid-lengths to ends. 2. Spray Joico Hair Shake Liquid-to-Powder Finishing Texturiser to the roots and blow dry into the hair. 3. Curl all the hair except a front section off the parting vertically with a barrel wand. 4. For the front side parting section, curl with the same size barrel wand horizontally pinning to hold shape. 4. Once cooled, section top and side sections up out of the way, then create three diagonal vertical rolls as a base in the nape. 5. Lightly back comb the crown and pin into the crease at the top of the rolls. 6. Bring the side left section back into place, keeping the wave that was created and secured into the same crease. 7. Form the ends of the side section into a curl shape around the rolls. 8. Brush out the side fringe section, maintaining and accentuating the waves by clipping them in place and spraying with Joico Flip Turn Volumising Finishing Spray. 9. Once the spray has dried, remove the clips and pin a small section into the back to complete the look. 10. Re-apply Finishing Spray and add hair piece.

Zoe Jolley, Alternatives Hair, Auckland

How Zoe got this look: 1. Prep hair with Joico Heat Set Blowout Perfecting Creme and smooth hair ready to curl using Joico Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray and Conical Curling Wand. 2. Curl the hair and put it into barrel curls using bobby pins to cool down. 3. Prep hair extensions using Joico Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray and the same curling wand. 4. Once hair has cooled, take out the barrel curls and spray Joico Hair Shake Liquid-to-Powder Finishing Texturiser through the hair – breaking up the curls and adding texture to help hold the hair extensions in place after back combing where the extensions will sit. it. 5. Once hair extensions are in place, section front side sweeping piece and plait the hair from left to right taking equal sections to create a balanced and pieced out braid. 6. Secure with a clear band on the right, just behind the ear. 7. Take a loose piece of hair and wrap it around the band to hide, and bobby pin hair in place to make it look natural coming around to the side. 8. Take the sweeping hair from the front and tuck it in between the hair to make it gently fall like a sweeping side fringe. 9. Keep everything secure by using Joico Flip Turn Volumising Finishing Spray. 10. Place the jewel hair piece into place using bobby pins and fringe pins to secure it, and spray once again with Joico Flip Turn Volumising Finishing Spray and Joico K-PA Colour Therapy  Dry Oil Spray.

Andy Alsop, Buoy Hairdressing, Wellington

How Andy created this look: 1. Prep hair with Joico Body Luxe Mousse. 2. Section hair into three horseshoe sections. 3. Curl all of the hair using Joico Hair Shake Liquid-to-Powder Finishing Texturiser. 4. Tie off bottom section. 5. Twist middle section into the bottom section. 6. Take both sections of hair, twist and pin to the right side of the head. 7. Drop the top section, lightly sprayed with Joico Flip Turn Volumising Hairspray and pin just below the eyebrow with a sectioning clip. 8. Twist remaining hair and pin underneath the previously-pinned curls. 9. Add flower and lightly spray with Joico K-PAK Colour Therapy Oil Spray.

Chelsea Glover, Nelson

How Chelsea created this look: 1. Use hair ties to create a loose pin-up, softly twist the side sections of hair neatly around the flowers. Finish using JoiMist Hair Spray, Joico Super Shine Glossing Polish, and Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil​.
