Ready, Set, Runway: With Jane Iredale Makeup

With only days to go until New Zealand Fashion Week, we stopped by some of the Bridal Industry's elite to get word on what we'll see next.

From dream dresses to dewy skin, the New Zealand Weddings Collection Show is going to be more beautiful than ever this year.

Head makeup artist for the show, jane iredale 's Sha O'Sullivan, gives us a few hints on what we'll see on not only this year's Fashion Week runway, but also in real bridal beauty.

New Zealand Weddings : Can you tell us what bridal beauty looks we'll see on the runway at Fashion Week?
Sha: You can expect beautiful dewy skin and two contrasting looks with differing eye features, using Liquid Minerals and products from the new jane iredale Naturally Glam collection , to complement the gowns beautifully.

One look has a strong fashion focused chocolate eye with a Smooth Affair for Eyes primer base in Gold all over the eyelid (1), infused and blended out with the Smoky Bronze eyeshadow from the new Naturally Glam Eyeshadow Kit (2).

The other uses Dark Topaz Mystikol Eye Liner (3), new Clearly Pink Powder Blush (4), and the new Gwen Lip Colour (5), amongst other products, to create a beautiful, romantic/ethereal flush.

What details do you think will be big in bridal beauty for the 2017/18 wedding season?
I believe wedding makeup trends that will take centre-stage going forward will be more natural, dewy skin makeup looks, as opposed to matte finish skin looks which have been popular in years gone by.

Brides now want to replicate and follow the celebrity trend of a luxury, conditioned, beautiful makeup glow, rather than a heavily made up 'Insta' look.

What bridal detail would you like to see making a comeback?
I would like to see a comeback in veil detail and/or the addition of a veil to many modern day gowns to complete a bridal outfit.

Many brides forego veils these days, however a simple detailed veil that enhances a bridal dress for the walk down the aisle makes such a statement and honours a centuries old tradition.

For the guys, I would like to see more cravats, which is such a nice alternative to a traditional tie or bow tie.

What kind of emotion do you want the makeup looks at the show to evoke?
Dreamy, ethereal, romantic glamour. Amongst other things, we will use a combination of  Lace and Chenille on the eye, the new Clearly Pink Blush and So-Bronze quad to create a romantic look and the Double Espresso Eyeshadow and Champagne 24 Karat Gold Dust as part of the product line up for our take on a modern muse.

Give our brides one piece of advice when it comes to deciding on a skin and makeup look...

One piece of advice in terms of makeup for your wedding day would be to focus on making sure your skin is in tiptop condition and looks radiant. Weddings almost always take place during daylight hours so you want your makeup to be a beautiful day look and not pile on too many enhancements you might wear in the evening such as heavy contouring, overdone false lashes and the like, as these will look too heavy during the day. Keep your makeup look simple, clean and beautiful.
